Gurpreet Singh is a well-known Indian shooter who won two gold medals in the Commonwealth Games in 2010. Gurpreet Singh has won multiple medals for his country and also represented India at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Gurpreet Singh, who comes from a small town, has worked hard to reach the top of some of the world’s most prominent tournaments. Gurpreet’s experience was, in a nutshell, dramatic. After making so many sacrifices, Gurpreet Singh became a shooter by accident.

Gurpreet Singh was born in the Punjabi area of Tarn Taran on December 19, 1987. He is from a village where the majority of the residents are army personnel. His town is known as “faujiyoka mohalla,” which translates to “army men’s neighbourhood.” Gurpreet’s father is an ex-army soldier, and his three uncles also work in the army. This is why Gurpreet had a strong desire to join the army and ended up doing so. During his service, he found shooting.

Gurpreet’s family was completely unaware of the sport. Only cricket was known to his family and the townspeople. Gurpreet had a difficult time persuading his parents to let him shoot at first. He even gave up a lot for the sake of shooting. Gurpreet rarely visited his house, and people frequently inquired about his return. Gurpreet Singh was gone from his family for more than ten months, while the other army personnel in his village visited their families for months. Despite his reservations, Gurpreet’s family quickly rallied behind him and stood by him while he pursued his dreams.

Gurpreet Singh Professional Life

Gurpreet Singh began his career as a photographer in 2004. Prior to then, he had no knowledge of the sport. Gurpreet had his training in Pune after entering the army in 2004. An internal teacher came to look for new talent. Gurpreet was invited to join the training system after a successful personal training session. However, they eventually unearthed a gifted shooter in Gurpreet Singh. He fired the gun for the first time at a training session in Pune in 2004. He became the only person to shoot a bull’s eye without even realizing it, and it was then that an army guy chose to pursue a career as a professional shooter.

Gurpreet initially felt the gun to be a more difficult weapon to grasp. He started with a 9 mm pistol that he had on hand, but he only hit a good group the first time. He was selected for the Army Marksmen Unit after participating in an inter-services competition in Mhow, where he had the opportunity to fire with a precision weapon. To use it, he received expert instruction.

Gurpreet Singh began his countdown to the Olympics as the World Cups began in 2015. Two of the four World Cup quotas were distributed, and Gurpreet was eager to secure a spot in the tournament. He couldn’t sit still for a second because of his preoccupation with the Rio dream. Gurpreet continued to train despite his coach’s request that he rest and take it easy. His hard effort gave him confidence, which enabled him to meet his quota.

After a slump in form during the Commonwealth Games in 2010, the shooter worked hard to get back on track. The shooter’s confidence was shaken as a result of his failure. He did, however, train in 2011 and 2012 and made a comeback in 2013. He competed in the Asian Games and the World Championships, and his performance at the Asian Games earned him a gold medal.
