Yadav was born in the village of Singhwa Khas in the district of Hisar on February 10, 1992. His father, Krishan Kumar, works for the Department of Electricity. In 1994, he and his father, who had been moved to this place, arrived in Bhiwani. Yadav joined the Bhiwani Boxing Club when he was ten years old, in 2003. He was then trained at the Army Sports Institute in Pune. Yadav took a year break from boxing after his early withdrawal from the 2012 Olympics to finish his degree at Kurukshetra University and his training with the Haryana State Police. Yadav is currently a DSP in the Haryana Police Department.

Vikas acquired his initial training from Bhiwani Boxing Club at the age of ten and later joined the Army Sports Institute in Pune. He was then trained at the Army Sports Institute in Pune. Vikas Krishan Yadav wins 5-0 over Japan’s Sewon Okazawa, the World No. 6, and the third seed in the 69kg weight class, to seal his ticket to the Tokyo Olympics. He defeated Kazakhstan’s Ablaikhan Zhussupov in the semifinals. Neeraj Goyat, a childhood buddy, inspired him to lose weight and drop to 69 kg from 75 kg. He also became only the second Indian men’s boxer to qualify for the Third Olympics, following Olympic bronze medalist Vijender Singh.
