Sawan Singh Ji Maharaj also known as Bade Maharaj ji, After Jaimal Singh Ji in 1903, Sawan Singh Ji Maharaj became the second satguru of Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB). Another name for him was “Bade Maharaj,” which is Sanskrit for “The Great Saint.” He is one of the greatest Saints to have ever lived and taught the Sant Mat teachings. He could recite by heart both the Jap Sahib of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the Japji Sahib of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He became close to Baba Jaimal Singh Ji, who initiated him in 1894, as a result of his desire to learn about spirituality and his willingness to discover the truth.
Sawan Singh Ji Maharaj Biography
On July 27, 1858, in Mahmansinghwala, Punjab’s District of Ludhiana, Baba ji was born. Kabal Singh Grewal, his father, was a former army officer. Jeevni, his mother’s name, was. After completing his study in Military Engineering Services at Thomson College of Engineering in Roorkee, Babaji enlisted in the military. Kishan Kaur and Sawan Singh Ji were married and had three kids together.
From a young age, Kabal Singh, Babaji’s father, would hang around with saints. Therefore, up to the year 1870, Babaji and his father had the chance to interact with those religious men. Thus, meeting these holy saints became his obsession, and between the years 1870 and 1878, he had several encounters with them.
In 1911, Sawan Singh Ji Maharaj moved to Dera Baba Jaimal Singh (Beas), the “camp of Baba Jaimal Singh,” where Baba Jaimal Singh had made his home since 1891 and retired on a government pension. The Dera significantly increased in size during his administration, adding homes for both permanent inhabitants and visitors, a library, and a Satsang Hall. During India’s Partition, Baba Sawan Singh provided refuge to those who had been victims of the communal genocide. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, and for the first time, hundreds of people from other countries, all followed him. He had adherents from countries including America, England, Switzerland, and Germany, with the American chiropractor and osteopath Dr. Randolph Stone and the Swiss doctor and homeopath Dr. Pierre Schmidt being among the most renowned.
