Apple, which officially launched the iPhone 7 and the larger iPhone 7 Plus on Sept. 7, has now introduced a price-cut on its older flagships — the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The Cupertino-based company also stated that it has discontinued permanently the new supplies of its 2014 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets as a result of the launch of its newer flagships.

Also, Apple’s iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will now be available in upgraded 32 GB and 12 GB internal storage variants, with the 16 GB variant eliminated altogether.

New pricing

For people looking at buying an iPhone costing less than the iPhone 7, here is a good bet — the Apple iPhone 6S is now priced at £599, thereby representing a £100 difference from the handset’s original price tag of £699.

The upgraded 32 GB iPhone 6S variant can be purchased for £40 less than the 16GB variant. The price of the 32 GB iPhone 6S edition is £499.

The Apple iPhone 6S Plus can be purchased at £599 (for the 32 GB variant). A 128 GB edition of the iPhone 6S Plus will cost £799, thus representing a £90 discount in pricing.

Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus terminated

Apple’s 2014 flagships, the iPhone 6 and the bigger iPhone 6 Plus, would continue to be sold in retail stores only until current stocks last. Newer units of the smartphones will not be supplied to retailers by Apple. This policy has come into effect on an immediate basis.

Apple iPhone 7 release date

Apple’s iPhone 7 will be released globally in retail stores, both online as well as brick-and-mortar shops, on Sept.16. However, the device is slated to hit Indian shores only during October 2016.

Most likely, the prices of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are likely to drop in India as well following the launch of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
